A plane lands in the border region between Bolivia and Argentina carrying Pedro, a young man dressed as a priest. His luggage is apparently stuffed with bibles, but in these parts, where abject poverty runs rampant, people crave a different kind of salvation. To make a living, the villagers produce pottery engraved using the bones of dead ancestors. The villagers see the arrival of a priest as a chance to change their destiny. But the villagers are in disagreement: should they continue their potter?s trade, or surrender to avarice and risk destroying their sacred sites and culture? The hopes of both camps now lie with Pedro, who is deemed the most qualified judge.

Miguel Pereira wurde 1957 in San Salvador de Jujuy (Argentinien) geboren und studierte Film in Buenos Aires, an der Minnesota University (USA) und an der Internationalen Filmschule in London. Dort arbeitete er unter anderem auch f?r die BBC und Channel Four. Neben diversen Dokumentarfilmen drehte Miguel Pereira unter anderem auch mehrfach ausgezeichnete Spielfilme. Pereira ist Pr?sident und K?nstlerischer Leiter des Mar del Plata international Film Festival.
